Hello, This is my first post here! :)
I am going to build my first gaming pc with the i5 3470 + 4GB + 500w but I am not sure about the gpu yet..
I just want to run old and new games on ultra (or very high settings at least) at +35 fps on low resolutions.. the FPS is more important for me than the resolution.
So is the HD 7770 good enough? Or maybe the 7790?? Also I dont want something very cheap or very expensive..
THANKS.

It won't do you well in the future with next gen consoles being right around the corner. HD7850 or the 650ti/boost at the very least bro

HD7850 at the very least man. I own a HD7770 myself and im sad to say that i dont think it'll be able to handle games at decent settings after some time. If you must get the HD7790 at the very least.

I currently own a 7770 and it is pretty good I must say but if you want ultra settings all the time without a bit of lag then you will need a better graphics card than that I am afraid. Although it is good for the money if you aren't looking to spend like 1000 on the GPU I would suggest getting a newer version such as a 7970 if you can afford it as that is a great card, my friend has it and recommends it but a 7790 is also a good choice as it is slightly better than the 7770. Hope this helped out!

I would be happy with something below 1600x1200 or so..

Is the HD 7850 even worth the money for one single monitor??
And what do you mean exactly by "after some time"?

He means as games become more sophisticated and use more resources, the 7850 may not scale too well in the future, i.e., you'll have to replace it sooner to run new games well :(

Seems like you'll go the 1920x1080 route then? Something smaller might suit you as well... 1440x900 would give you better performance with these cards, no doubt. The question was more meant as, "What monitor are you using?"

Maybe I will go with the 650 ti boost since it seems better than the other cards and I found one a bit cheaper than the HD 7850, it's: Palit GTX 650TI Boost 2GB DDR5. Is Palit a good brand? :heink:

Man this is really confusing me, I have seen different benchmarks saying the GTX 650ti boost is better than the HD7850, Now all I see is the opposite...... How am I supposed to choose?? :(
I need a definitive answer, I know they are pretty much the same but still, which one is better? HD 7850 or GTX 650ti Boost?

If you're seeing conflicting benchmark results, it means they are probably around the same rough performance level, differing on different games and tests. I personally think the 650ti boost is the better GPU, but if you wish to base your decision on other factors, nVidia's driver support is usually better and IMO their software is easier to work with.

Thanks a lot guys!! You are helping me so much, I appreciate it :)
I will probably choose the cheapest one since they are almost the same in terms of performance.
I currently have Pentium 4, 960MB ram (Its supposed to be 1GB, I dont know whats wrong), Ati Radeon xpress 200 series.... yes I know.. I can't even play Counter Strike 1.6 on the lowest settings :sarcastic:
So yeah, this new computer is going to be a H-U-G-E change for me!!
