Title say it all. I was playing through the game for a second time now and it stutters and basically halts for different durations (sometimes from 1ms to almost 2 seconds!)

The first time I played through it, I had an HD 6570 set to medium and got 40 FPS average. I'm now sporting a GTX 650 and have the settings at High/Ultra with averages of 60 FPS. I'm gaming at 1366x768. I have the latest drivers.

My CPU is an Intel Xeon X3220 (similar to a C2Q Q6600) OC'ed to 3.0 GHz.

I really don't know what the problem is. I can play FC3 at high settings @ 40 FPS, Skyrim at Ultra @ 40 FPS.

Pretty sure i had that problem too with a better pc then yours, it might just be a part of the game and nothing u can do about it.
Make sure ur game is updated to the latest version, you can try going back to older drivers too. And check temps.

Also, make sure u dont have driver remaims from ur previous gpu, and bioshock is optimiazed better for amd.

This happened to me with a similar game(can't remember which) turns out it was using integrated graphics instead.

Game is updated. Temp's @ 46C average while playing. But, yeah, I haven't removed my old AMD drivers. Gonna try that.

Haha, that had to be a bummer. But I'm sure it's running on my new card. :)  I doubt the IGP on my platform could even load the menu screen of Infinite.

  That's funny. Was an easy fix though, just had to switch a few settings. As for your problem that is very strange, sounds like a drivers issue though.

Actually I saw another one here at TH that talks of the same problem. This could be a game-related problem. AHHHH, this sucks.

Uninstalled the AMD drivers, cleaned up stuff, rebooted and ran the game... still stuttering. :(

Could be a game related problem but seems odd to me it worked perfectly fine before you switched. :??:

I tried playing it again just a few minutes ago. It was still stuttering but not as game-breaking as it was previously. I don't know what did the trick.  But the screen tearing got worse. ARRRGH.  One problem goes away and another pops-up.

Sh!t i forgot to ask, have you tried disabling Vsync?( i think its called " locked frames" in bioshock)

I have it disabled. That's why I'm having screen tearing issues as I said in my previous post. Also, I now noticed that when the stutter-bug attacks, the HDD led lights up like Vegas.

Thats probably because its either loading new places or saving game, theres nothing you can do about it and its normal.
My advice to you, just play the game.

Meh, but I still have to get to the bottom of this, somehow. Because, like I said, this didn't happen when I was using a marginally weaker HD 6570 card. But, hey, thanks anyway. :)

try doing this "I then opened up the XEngine ini file in My Documents\My Games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config and edited the following;

PoolSize to 1024
Under the MemoryPools section I changed both settings to 1024 from 512
Changed MinSmoothedFramerate to 59
Change MaxSmoothedFramerate to 62"

someone said it fixed his stuttring almost completley

Well, I'll be d*mned. That did the trick. :ouch:

After resolving another problem that I had, I tried running Infinite again. *poof* No more stuttering and stuff! Yay!

I'll have to live with the screen tearing, I guess. But it was lessened to a great extent. And I noticed around 5-10 FPS drop in the average framerate. But that's okay, I guess. Thank you for this trick!
