Why were the I7-3770K/4770K and I7 3930K not included? They are the nearest rivals at this price point....

EDIT: Wait, it's priced at $800? The same price as the I7-3960X? LOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

GOODBYE, CENTURION! GOODBYEEEEEEE!

Not a review. They're just from someone who bought the chip and posted the results online.

3930K pulls 11.05 in Cinebench if you're wondering

That's exactly what an 8350 does @ 5.0 GHz on Cinebench...are you sure someone didn't photoshop that? You can't even buy the CPU yet from an OEM or a retailer.

I find this a bit fishy...considering the 9590 got the Richland IPC tweaks, there should about about an 8-10% gain over what an 8350 does @ 5.0 GHz simply from process tweaks for that CPU.

I think that's some brilliant photoshop work. My extrapolations based on IPC Improvements put the Cinebench score around 9.0-9.25.

The only other thing I can account for it being the same is the fact that Cinebench is compiled with ICC, which means it would feed the 9590 the same code as the 8350 since it's designed to generate less optimal code paths for anything that isn't intel.

Wrong...it's an 8 core Vishera 2.0 with 8-10% IPC improvements in the process.

http://wccftech.com/amd-launching-28nm-kaveri-apu-steamroller-cores-2013/

While Richland would deliver 20-40% improvement over Trinity A-Series APU, Kaveri APU would pump upto even more and almost twice the gain than Richland itself. We don’t speculate about this bit, we believe. Why? Because AMD’s Richland is based on the same Piledriver architecture Trinity uses with minor IPC improvements, Kaveri APU is a full fledged new design due to its Steamroller core architecture.

There you go...

I don't see where they claim that the new FX's are based on the Richland architecture though.

They don't, because Richland is an APU infrastructure codename, not a CPU one.

AMD didn't bother to release "Richland-based" FX processors, so they don't have an official name for it.

Thats the point, I would love to have an 8 core for $150 rather than a quad core for $240...

I watched a video a while back, I think it was a newegg one, and the guy from amd said the cores work as pairs. My first thought that theyre each 1/2 cores, so an 8 core would be a 4 core, but they still have 8 threads..don't take my word for it though, I hardly know anything about cpus...

fanboy? this cpu costs near 3 times as much as an i7, will perform roughly the same probably slightly faster, will run very hot, and eat up power. Also im not a big cpu buff, but I noticed that they compared it to intel cpus from years ago, leading me to believe that they know the cpu is not worth the price. It seems all amd knows how to do is constantly increase the clock speed.
