Hello,

I've lost track of all the new developments in the hardware industry, but want to assemble a new gaming PC soon. My question is fairly simple - what graphic card chipset series would be recommended for an i5-4430, 3.0GHz, Haswell processor, for a fairly balanced configuration?

Is an HD7950 too much? Should I go for HD7850 / GTX 660 / GTX 670?

Thank you!

It completely depends on what you want to do with your PC. Graphically intensive games? A 770 is an excellent choice, as is a 7970/7950/760. Just surfing the web? Less intensive games (Minecraft etc) 7750/7770/650/650ti. Just browsing the web etc? You won't really need one. It's completely dependent on your intentions.

You resolution also plays a part. 720p and 1440p are poles apart, and you'll need to base your choice on your resolution too.

if you goign to be gaming on the new intel haswell then you want a Z87 chipset or H87 as they support cpu features that should improve gaming proformance.

as far as picking a graphics card goes i always say go for the best card that fits your budget. if you want to compare overall proformance then you should check out the Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart here :)  http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming-graphics-card-revi...

Those are not GPU chipsets, they're motherboard chipsets.

Sorry, should've been more specific - I want to play graphically intensive games, and the option of streaming (like on twitch.tv) would be a great added bonus

thanks for the answers!

If your resolution is 1080p, then a 7950 (for more VRAM) or a GTX 760 (for lower price) would both be great cards. If at 720p/lower, Something like a GTX 650 Ti would be more than fine. If at 1440p, then a 7970 would be the only way that I would go for maximum FPS.

Sorry about the double answers; my internet freezes up sometimes and sends things twice. :(
