So in the last few days my comp has has shut down do to over temp.

i have:

-asus rampage fromula 2011 board

-i7 3930k (was running a minor clock applied by pushing the oc choices in the bios)

-a h60 water cooler

-32 gigs of ripjaw 1800 ddr3

-2 X 680 lightnings no OC

-1100 watt rosswell ps with 80 gold...not sure exact on that with out looking

have not had any issues with anything till about a week ago.

one day in a pretty dense battle in a game ....comp reset and said overheat....did not happen again for another day..this time randomly when i was not sitting there...than again a bit later and now all the time no matter what....

no game i have touches my cards or my cpu evan at max load with max graphics. at most my cpu will hit 35% with oc, and my gpu will hit about 50..ish...

so i opened the case and noticed ONE of the 2 tubes for the h60 cooler was burning hot and the other was cool ...like real cool ....the bios says that it is idling at 4000 plus rpm pushing high as the temp keeps going up ...i sit and watch it in the bios....

With this in mind i took and redid the thermal past...no change..

i took out cpu h60 and cleaned all to include mother board when i redid thermal..no change ...

i noticed when i do get to all the way into windows...usually i cant over temp will usually shut me down... 2 programs speedfan and the asus software both say my temps are way lower than the actual bios says????!?!

mind you this is after resetting the CMOS and wiping all clocking and using default

fanspeed will be with in 4 C of each other and both bellow 50 C

additionally the cpu speed will drop down around 1.4 to 2.4 from normal clock of 3.4 ( i underdstand this is normal for it so stop thermal...i think)

as soon as i try to Oc it..either from windows, or from bios it spikes and hits heat sealing and fails and wont boot....i am still not going above 4.2

next when i leave it at normal clock...i tried to stress it with game ...the temp spiked from 47...to 77 with me just entering game in a mater of seconds....

I have never had problems in the last 3 months mind you

my h60 is plugged into a reg fan spot and the cpu fan spot for the radiator

mobo does not display any errors AA or 40 or a2......are generally what i get

So what do you guys think??

is it my h60? my cpu or my mobo

please say the h60 thats the cheap one =)

any additiona info i can get you let me know ill try to be promped ...ill be checking the rest of the night frequently and tmrw ...as needed
