PC won't boot after applying thermal paste.

I decided to reapply the thermal paste but I think it's a wrong idea since my PC stopped working.

It has its LED lit in front. I think it's the power button. No beeps or anything, when I click the turn on switch, it doesn't do anything. What could I have gone wrong? Help please.

Is all plugged in, the 20+4 and the 4/8 power connections to the mobo? Need a little more to work with, have a basic bench troubleshooting guide I wrote here:

heatsink is fully seated and fan plug is securely attached to cpu fan header?

I forgot to post that I broke one of the lock pin on my cooler. But it's still locked tight since It's not moving.

Tried removing gpu and one stick. Still not working.

Ireplugged cpu cooler and the 24pin. Clear the CMOS. Plugged the PSU on the socket. LED light didn't turn on. But it's still dead. Did I fry it?

I'm talking about the cpu.......... not the heatsink. did you pull the cpu from the board?

you raised the lever to pull it and reset the lever after reinstall? and you didn't get thermal paste in the cpu socket holes and you didn't bend any pins?

never should have pulled the cpu. all you had to do was wipe the old paste off and reapply new.

speaking of pulling cpu............ did you put it back in the right way?

I didn't bend any I think. I'm sorry. I'm too noob.:/ And yes, I did put it back. LED is still on. No sign of turning it on.

I'm using an intel i5-2320 and Asrock H61m U3S3. Built 2 yrs ago so I just decided to reapply thermal paste. What seems to be the problem? :/

go over every connection in your machine. power cables ( sometimes they look firmly seated but aren't )....( pull and re-seat )..... every data cable every connection to the HD's, dvd, etc. also check the front panel connections.

It works now. apparently, I'm so stupid to plug the right front panel connector in order. xD I thought I'm so stupid since it was the first time I put a thermal paste on my PC but I've been cleaning my PC and opening it up for 2yrs now. Good riddance.

Well good that you figure it out. You can always use a screw driver to start it up without plugging the case wires into the motherboard. You just touch the two pins that are use for the case power and it will turn on. I do that every time before I plug them in cause i hate having to deal with those wires.

Not yet solved even though it boots. I cannot see any display. I read that it MAY be connected with what I have done....reapplying thermal paste. Ugh.-.-

check the cable at both ends.

do you have a video card installed?

is the monitor connected to the motherboard?
