Hi,
My mother asked me to find her a relatively cheap laptop for word processing internet usage, etc. I found one I like for her, but it is using this AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M 1.9GHz processor. Having never owned an AMD processor I don't know much about them, but I feel like I have heard more complaints from my friends about their AMDs than I have heard from my friends using Intel. Google search didn't really reveal much for me to look at other than benchmarks, no reviews or anything of that variety. Any help you could provide would be very much appreciated.

CPUs basically don't fail (unless you overclock them). AMD processors tend to be used in lower cost machines, and so they tend to be surrounded by cheaper components, but an Intel chip in the same price range would have the same issue.

Thanks for the information, I really haven't heard much about AMD recently, so I figured what I hat had heard in the past might not be so accurate anymore.

Hi,
I've had a 3 Series Samsung laptop with an A8_4500 for 9 months now - W7 64bit. Graphics ability at the price point was the deal maker. Reliability of processor fine, never heard otherwise.
