What's the difference? Anyone know?

Are red drives made of better parts?

Need to decide which one for storage without raid/nas. I want quality, size, silence.

You asked... That is what the branding denotes no matter how they perform. The drives are released practically together, the green red blue and black are allways the same compared to each other. The black of any series is performance, the green is the slow low energy version etc etc.

WD Red is made for Network Array Storage (RAID), and you get free Customer Support. It would also work without RAID.
WD Blue is a run of the mill hard drive.
WD Green is a low power, quiet drive. Good for a 2nd storage drive.
WD Black is the top of the line drive for enthusiasts.

Blue is the minimum required for gaming.
Black is faster, which while it wont effect framerates so much as load screens and install times.

On the otherhand, depending what your coming from, e.g myself on an IDE drive blue is lightning ;)
