Are my 4770k temps as expected?

Hi guys, Just wanted to ask around and see if my temps are within reason or if I shouldbe expecting more out of my cooler. I have an h100i with a push/pull config (4 fans).

My ambient/room temperature is 72F (22C)

At my low load I am seeing about 29-30C on minimum. Running Prime95 on all different test modes for 10+ minutes each, my highest temps were 60-63c.

Does this sound correct for a push/pull h100i @ stock?

Thanks

That seems about right. Perhaps a bit high, but not too much. I run a 3770k @ 4.2 GHz with an Antec Kuhler 920, and my ambient is a bit higher than that. I would run it for 12hr in Prime95 and see what the max temperature is that it reaches, in order to really get a feel for things. :)

Thanks,

I did as you suggested and ran Prime95 for 12 hours+ and still only peak at 60C~ area.

Not sure if I plan to overclock anytime soon, I usually save that stuff for a lil' while down the line personally, but I appreciate your input, thanks again.

Oh just for fun I also cranked up all my case fans and turned up the AC, was able to get a minimum temp on 22C haha

May I ask you what it means when you have a "delidded" Core processor? I've searched it, but can't really find a reasonable answer.

Delidded means i pulled the IHS off of the CPU ;)

Intel uses this POS TIM between the Die and IHS which is why Haswell runs hot. Once you pull off the IHS your temps drop 30C+. I went from 98C at 4.7Ghz with stock tim to 59C at 4.8Ghz with a delidded chip.

Yes and its even easier because of no on die VRM's

That's awesome... How risky is it?

I'm 2 for 2 with a 3770K and 4770K. If you take your time and use the right tools it should take 5 minutes. If you screw it up you'll kill your chip and you automatically void your intel warranty by doing this.

Gosh... You think it's worth it?

From the videos/info I've seen, yes, delidding is a very good idea, it can make a huge difference in temps (-10C+), especially with haswell from the videos/analysis I've seen.

I am too much of a pussy to put my brand new processor in a vice though lol

Also thanks for the tip on the 1.15v vcore

What is your overclock at now?

No problem

ATM it's only at 4.2 GHz, but that's solely because I was testing it and I haven't yet bothered to bring it back up to 4.7 or so.
