ok so i managed to oveclock my amd fx 6300 to 4.2ghz with 1.3V and after running prime 95 for an hour temps were stuck at 51C so i just stopped it seeing it was good enough. i want to push it to a final 4.5ghz, so what voltage do you guys reccomend? 1.35? 1.38? under stress my voltage bumps itself up a little so at 1.3V it was running at 1.32 under prime95 under stress

Solution
I have one of my FX-6300s running 1.35v for 4.5GHz and the other running 1.425v for 4.5GHz. So it really depends on the chip you've got.

oh wow, this is a problem :/ i guess il try 1.38V and see how it goes with prime95. id rather overvolt it stable then slowly try to under volt :p

hey man so at 1.38v my mobo autos it to 1.41 under prime95 test and i get low 60s temps fluctauting for an hour. should i lower voltage to 1.37? then i guess mobo would bump it to 1.4 under load

its stable at 1.43V at 4.5ghz. under that one core fails after 10 min on prime95

Perfect. You're Good to Go then :)

Just make sure that all power savings features are disabled in the BIOS and maybe try the HPC option (High Performance Computing) if it is available in your BIOS. Just to make sure you get your full 4.5GHz performance all of the time.

the only power thing i have on is amd cool n quite. it lowers voltage to 1.392 but on louad its at 4.5ghz at 1.43v which is good :)

shouldnt you be careful with that? over-volting can kill your chip instantly cant it? wouldnt it be would be better to oc first then try to boot to windows then raise voltage to become stable? less danger. but hey. what do i know, only on my second overclock haha

yea if i go over the limit like 1.55 or over it will fry, but not within the safe range lol, it will just raise temps. i currenty have fx 6300 at 4.5ghz with 1.43v with cool n quiet, c1e, and c6 to power it down on idle and works great :)

got my fx6300 at 4.2ghz at 1.38v also with cool n quiet enabled, none of the others if my memory serves me right. these fx6300 love a bit of an overclock dont they, only using hyper 212 evo and temps are great in hardware monitor. registers 9c at idle (obviously rubbish but at least its low enough for the sensor to mis-read it) and max of 44c on full stress testing. amd overdrive said core temps were 56c on full load (accurate?) so i decided to leave it there for now at least.

nice. mine reaches 61-64 on prime95 stress test with core temp under 50c. in gaming socket temp never goes above 47c :) i can set the water cooler fan to turbo but it would be loud as fuck under prime95 lol

Yep I just upgraded one of my FX-6300 systems, Added Kingston Predator Series 8GB 2X4GB Kits DDR3-2133, an NZXT H2 case and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

It's really warm in my place (Heat Wave) so Ambient is somewhere in the 30s but the FX-6300 @ 4.5GHz idles at 44C and loads at 67C. The case is really quiet (sound dampening on the cheap) and the RAM is running at its full 2,133MHz :D

nicee. my ram is venegeance low profile 1866, but im running it at 1600 with 1.5v. i cant get it to run at 1866 even 1.55v. do you know anyway i can? it gives me overclocking failed whenever i try to change ram

Well the Kingston sticks I have come with a profile. My Gigabyte board can select the memory profile right from the BIOS. So I actually don't have anything to setup.

I am usuing a msi 970a-g46 mobo. running stable at 4.4ghz @ 1.44v I want it a little lower
but my options in BIOS are limited. it goes from 1.29 to 1.44. so I was forced to do that.
do you think I could run 4.5ghz at that same voltage 1.44? CPU COOLER Zalman 7500
