AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE with 7950.

As the title says, and my signature, Im running a 965 BE at stock 3.4 GHz until i get a new cooler, with a 7750 2GB DDR3 which is starting to not cut it in terms of gaming. I was curious on the 7950 as it would be the card im looking to get, but im worried that my cpu will bottle neck it. If so, how bad would the performance hit be?

Solution
Would be a considerable bottleneck. Best option would be to get a GTX650 ti Boost or GTX660. You can even get a GTX760 that is similar in performance to a HD7950 but with a little less overhead. Still would be bottlenecked though, I would just get a GTX650ti BOOST 2GB and avoid any sort of waste in money, its performance is pretty impressive.

I also nudge towards AMD, but since they have a little less CPU overhead, its better in your situation.

GTX650ti BOOST or GTX660. Even a GTX760 is worth it since the price is so good on it. But this depends on how far down the line you plan on upgrading your CPU.
On the AMD side the HD7850 or HD7870.

I am planning to stay with this cpu as long as I can, coming from a gateway with a X4 810 just about anything was an upgrade, plus I am always on a budget, as still being in high school. I think I might have to go with the Nvidia at that price. Would you say to go with this model http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130910 or a different manufacturer?

Side note here: I just looked down to see I am wearing my Nvidia shirt from E3...

LOL cape would be a bit much, i agree.

Well there you go. The 965 can almost get to modern CPUs with a decent OC, so yeah. Your all set then.

Alright thanks, I'm hoping that 650 TI will live up to my hopes, (and that my processor wont be too mad at me). Im going to leave this open for a bit in case anyone wants to throw in their 2 cents as well, but you answered this with just what I needed.

Just one last question that, i have no idea if it can be answered easily. How much of a boost am I looking at getting here? I paid 130 bucks for this card (For my old computer) and it gets the job done, 30-35 fps in SC2 at ultra everything. How much more am I looking to get (Not just sc2 specifically) I know thats a tough question.

Depends on the resolution, considering that A. the new one is GDDR5, B. it has twice as much memory, C. It's considerably faster in general, I would say you can near double that 30FPS. Just remember to FULLY remove Catylist control and do a registry sweep before restarting and installing the Nvidia card and its drivers.
