So I went around to ask about the price of Intel Xeon E3-1230V3, and one of the sales told me that this cpu is really noisy and has a higher temperature compared to i5 or i7.
Is that true? Is the noise and temperature caused by the stock fan?

On a side note, should I just get an i7-3770K and overclock it compared to buying intel xeon E3-1230V3?
Because I don't know how to overclock, however, everyone says it's very easy to overclock your cpu.

Thanks so much!

Solution
E3-1230V3 has Higher temperature and is noisy than i7 4770k or i5 4670k ...most likely no if it uses the same cooler.
That salesman either has no idea of what he is talking about or simply want to lead you to buy certain processors.

E3-1230V3 is an i7 3770 (non-K) and without the iGPU. looking at the price, it is very interesting even compared to i5 4670k if you do not plan to OC.

The decision to choose E3-1230V3 or i5 4670k or i7 4770k lies fully to the plan of want you are planning to do with the proc.
If you plan to use mainly for gaming and possibly want to OC, i5 4670k suits you the best.
If you plan to use the proc not only for gaming but also to do some rendering, etc. and/or are in need of the hyper-threading plus are still...

If you do game a lot but no OC, I would say i5 4670 (non-k) is a good choice.
If you need i7 4770k but do not want to OC and do not need the iGPU, E3-1230V3 is the one for you, if you need the iGPU....i7 3770 is the best solution..

Not knowing how to OC...well all of us did not know how to OC our procs at first...there is always the first time..
You just have to read a lot first in the internet before doing it on your own.
No need to be afraid just simply be carefull :)

Solution
I tend to prefer buying extra cooler, it does not matter if I OC or not.
Even if you do not OC, Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo will serve you well. It does not cost that much too (USD20-30).
You can get rid of the temperature and noisy things there from your head, if you are planning not to use the stock cooler.

Why do you want a XEON in the first place?
It's mostly build for Workstations.... If you are planning on OC, gaming etc. I would go for either the 3770K or 4770K.

What are your plans with the computer?
If it is mostly gaming, I would suggest the i5 version instead

@verdensherker: I asked around for quite a long time, and people suggested that I buy the xeon because it's provides i7 performance for i5 price. It just doesn't have a iGPU.

@guanyu210379: I've asked so many questions, and you've always replied in such a prompt manner! Thanks so much!

1230v3 is an i7 4770, not 3770.

1230v3= ~4770~
1230v2= ~3770~

Or maybe it was just a typo. Can't hurt to post this anyway. :p
