hello everyone

ok guys here is my problem i recently bought a desktop with z87 chipset from gygabyte g1 sniper m5 , intel i7 4770k and 2 memory chips (4g each) from kingston and my problem is next :

when i put the memory chips in channel B (green slots ) as it writes in the manual if i only have 2 chips , with the xmp activated from bios i cannot set it to profile 1-- 2400 mhz (with auto frecvency at 1.65 or even manualy set to same frecvency), it only let me use them in profile 2 , wich is 2133 mhz or with xmp disabled at 1333 but if i put the 2 memory chips in channel A i can use xmp from bios at 2400 mhz , what am i doing wrong ? pls give me some help i really apreciate it. thanks
here are my components i just bought:

Solution
Generally speaking using Dual-Channel limits the peak clock speed of the RAM.

Having them both in the same channel slots limits it to single channel mode, and this lets the clock speed run higher.

You're much better off running them in Dual-Channel as the timings on the RAM will be tighter at the lower clock speed.

yes i did sent an email to vendor in the same time but thought if i post here maybe someone else had same problem as me or maybe i'm doing something wrong...

thank you very much anyway

- This is what I left on the last line of my above post, I think you missed it.

Dual-Channel with lower clock speed means the RAM runs with a wider bus AND it can also use tighter timings.
- This is better for both response and throughput.

yes i got u posted earlyier but tbh i bought those ram for that clock speed 2400 and as i runned a few benchmarks and my rendering software i could saw some difference in performance if i wanted to use at lower clock rates i would have probably bought some chips with lower CL and 1600 , 1866 or 2133 mhz but i want to use exactly what i have payied for :D , thanks for your respose again.

Try the sticks in slots 1-3 from CPU, enable XMP and select profile 1, will prob want a sligt OC to 4GHZ, then if any prob let me know what the base timings, CR and DRAM voltage are at, along with the VCCSA, VTT and look in the DRAM advanced timings for tRFC it will prob be about 128...regardless, let me know the info and if the above doesn't work , we can prob get them running smooth

That looks good, appears the mobo prefers the 1-3 slots as primary (most do, though they should work in either. Don't worry about reviews, half of the writers are lost, in your manual it should show either/or 1-3 or 2-4, generally one set of slots will be 'sweeter' than the other, those are the ones you consider as primary

yeah in the manual shows me that i should install if i have only 2 chips in the green ones but also tells me that the green ones are channel B and those i have installed now(black ones) as channel A , i really don't get it , is it a bug of bios, of motherboard or is the motherboard defect so i should go change mobo , thou the problem doesn't stop here because i wish to get another 8 g ram in the future same brand and speeds and dunno if it gonna work properly and at full speed or it will gonna drop speed.
thanks for answers

Should be either or, GB normally show 1-3 or 3-4 and then all 4 populated, will hae to take a look - regardless you are in Dual channel so instead of the MC seeing the DRAM as 2 64bit devices it looks at it as a single 128bit device, usually shows gains in performance of up to 15%

i see, so about the slots u think i should leave them alone for the moment or should i try go with mobo to vendor ? could be a bios bug cuz i saw in last beta bios in descriptions it say

Beta BIOS
Improve SATA RAID performance
Enhance DDR performance

could have this be the bug thou i already tryied it and same issue . could this be a general issus for this mobo? maybe a stable version of bios solve this ? i already droped this problem to their mail but still wainting for an response from gygabyte...
