I just tried leaving only one in it, and neither of my monitors would come up. I'm honestly not sure why it doesnt work with only one 6 pin cable in it, but it works with both cables plugged in (which would mean 12 pins of power for one card).

The main reason I'm asking is because I'm going to buy a second 7850 for crossfire.

I have a 700 W PSU so it's enough power, but I just dont know if I have enough power cables or if I will just need to buy a molex to PCI-E.

This is the card right here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...

Thanks!

you have to have both power plugs in at the same time for the card to work

So could I buy two molex to PCI-E cables and then use those for the second 7850?

it really depends on what kind of psu you have. if you have a nice quality power supply you can probably get away with it

ah i have the exact same one haha, and had the same problem. was limited to doing 660's in sli rather than anything better.

it should be able to handle it. might want someone who knows more about power supplies to answer more definitely, but i had 2 660s running off of that power supply for months with no problems.

So would I just use the molex connectors that come from the PSU and plug molex to PCI-E cables into that, and then into the GPU?

Thanks for all the help by the way! :)

Just for anyone reading this in the future, I bought this cable right here :
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...

It has two molex connectors and two PCI-e cables on it for $6. Perfect for adding another GPU if your current PSU doesn't support two graphics cards for whatever reason (even though the on I have is advertised as supporting it. Oh well)

Thanks again to carowden.
