Hello everyone, apologies in advance if something similar has been asked...

i'm on pre-build stages of my first from scratch build...i pretty much know everything i want to get but there is a few things i'm not sure of ;

this is the Motherboard i plan to get
ASUS GRYPHON Z87 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131977

and this is the PSU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438010

Reading the specs on both is where my confusion is,specifically on the 24pin and the 8 pin cpu connectors...

The specs on the Motherboard say :
1 x 24-pin EATX Power connector(s)
1 x 8-pin ATX 12V Power connector(s)

and the PSU's say :
1 x 24 Pin ATX
2x 4+4 Pin EPS12V

My guess is that they are Compatible just fine...but that's exactly what i dont wanna be doing, guessing

Whats the diference on 24-pin EATX & 24 Pin ATX...and can i plug the 4+4 Pin EPS12V on the motherboard's 8-pin ATX 12V?

this is probably a very newbie question but all this letters and confusing me,i don't wanna fry anything or buy something that is not gonna be compatible,i really hope someone can clear this for me,thanks in advance.

Basically the EPS12V spec was brought around for high power computers and servers, it was designed by a group of companies called the Server Systems Infrastructure, and includes an additional 8 Pin 12v connector, and yes it's fine with standard ATX mobos

No problems. But I never heard of an EATX 24 pin connector. The E in EATX stands for extended and is a description of the MB size. But to all your other questions, you are good to go. The 4+4 pin is split just so it can be used on MBs with a 4 pin header only. And connectors are keyed to their headers, so plugging them in wrong would be difficult to accomplish.

Yeah i'm aware that the Gryphon is a Micro ATX...i've decided to go for a compaq case "Obsidian Series 350D"

What i really can't find a concrete answer on is whats the diference between EPS12V & ATX 12V and if it is safe to plug a EPS12V PSU on my ATX 12V MOBO.

EPS12V is a server standard. I don't think they are compatible with ATX standards. Although the wiring may look the same, I'd avoid it. Use the +12V ATX.

Yeah...on almost every modern PSU i have looked into the 8 pin CPU connector is EPS12V,and the ASUS GRYPHON motherboard i believe it came out just a month ago...

SO...I'LL BE FINE WITH THE MOBO AND PSU RIGHT? :D
