Hi, would this setup work okay at stock clock speeds, also, are there any changes you would make? I will be editing/ rendering HD movies and I will be playing games such as COD, TF2 and MineCraft... My budget is £600 absolute maximum and I want the best possible performance for the money!

Thanks and sorry for all the questions :)

Solution

No problem. First off, I'd go with the i5-4670k instead of the 4770k. Gaming performance would be identical, both CPUs are multiplier-unlocked, and the i5 is cheaper.

Next, a good motherboard. Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, or Asrock.

Finally, this video card is about the same price as the HD 7790, with better performance in all benchmarks:

Unless you're partial to AMD.

As a supplement, I would strongly suggest dropping a bit of...

The motherboard won't work with that CPU. You need one with Socket 1150. Also, I'd get a slightly bigger power supply in case you ever want to upgrade graphics cards in the future. Say, at least 550-600w. Other than that, shouldn't have any problems. You won't get slam bang amazing performance out of the 7790, but it won't be terrible. Expect mid-range performance at normal resolutions. Enjoy! Hope the build goes well.

As a supplement, I would strongly suggest dropping a bit of extra cash for a ~120GB SSD for your operating system. Such as:

^ That's top of the heap, but as long as you stick with Samsung, OCZ, Kingston, you'd probably be good.
