I need a good/really good GPU for my PC

Solution
For that price range the 7770 or 650 is the best bet, But I would strongly, strongly recommend going for the extra price up to the evga 650 ti boost Superclocked edition. It offers much more performance for just 20 bucks extra it is well worth the investment.

I assume that's the PSU that came with the PC. Well, it's not a very strong gaming PSU, but at that power, you could get away with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202004

Anything higher than a 7850 and you risk killing your PSU. You also might need a molex to 6 pin adapter, but those are cheap and may come with your GPU.

Why would the OP want a HD 7770 or 650 Ti when the HD 7850 is a bit better and OC's to or passed a 7870 (stock)?

I also own a HP Pavilion but mine came with a 300w PSU so I upgraded to what's in my sig however yours is a 460w so you should be ok, a 7850 is recommended at 500w but that's being overly safe from a manufacturers stand point unless your running a lot of extra components.

mclovits has given you the best shout imo.

Every version of PCIe is backwards compatible. You could run these on PCIe x16 1.1 if you really had to. Theres a slight performance drop, but there is no way to notice it in game. 2.0 and 3.0 are basically identical.

what will I be missing then? By that I mean what is a performance drop? And wouldnt the suggestions heat up like crazy in my case because thats what other users say

It technically would have lower framerate, that is what most performance drops mean, but its so little, that it wont even drop it 1 or 2 fps. You wont be missing anything with a 3.0 card on 2.0 slot. It would heat up the case, but nothing major, as long as you have decent airflow in the case its fine.

If I were to open one side of my case would it help the ventlation instead of buying a brand new case?

Any reccomendations on power supplys ?

It would technically help, but it would be a better idea to keep the panel on to keep it clean and safer. How many fans are in that case, i cant tell from the specs? On my old computer I had one exhaust with a 7750 and it was fine. It would be warm, but not extremely hot from what I can tell.

1.The video card fan
2.one fan on the back
3.and one near the power supply facing the inside

my guess is probbaly 2-3

Apparently the OP didn't want the correct answer to his question. Oh well.
