Custom resolution in catalyst control center?

I just found the option for a custom resolution in catalyst control center and I thought this would be the solution to my problem but I can't get it to work. I have a cheap westinghouse monitor with a max resolution of 1400 x 1050 but windows seven is recognizing it as some POS acer so it caps it at 1280 x 1024. When trying to set the resolution in catalyst it says the resolution is incompatible with this display. Is it because the other things below (all the stuff I don't understand) needs to be changed? If so, what would I change all that stuff to for my monitor?

I'm using windows 7 ultimate 64 with an ati firepro v7800 dvi

Here is my monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824255004

And I have a firepro, so what is the problem? What was the point of your post?

Because I am surprised to see any custom resolution settings.
Rudeness is not appreciated.

Try clicking new, set the timing standard to automatic and set your custom resolution.

If that fails then try this: http://morrisoft.wordpress.com/2010/08/10/ati-custom-resolution-tool-v1-02/

I was under the impression you were an nVidia fanboy being rude to me... I apologize. Anyway, the other options for "Timing standard" are CVT, CVT - Reduced Blanking, GTF, DMT. There is no automatic setting.

Wow! It worked! It was that easy! I wonder if others are having the same problem, maybe I should make a youtube video for people like me who were to afraid to try the different settings... Thanks a ton.
