Are cheap ram heatsinks effective?

I overclocked my ram from 1333mhz to 1600mhz and it started to overheat so I clocked it back down to 1333. Will this sort of heatsink help at all or is it just a waste of money? on the inside it has a long thermal pad to contact all the chips.

yup it'll help. I am normally against ram heatsinks since few actually need them, but in your case yeah. it would also help if you could somehow orient a case fan toward the ram sticks
