So I'm upgrading my 8800 ultra (lol, I know...) to a radeon 6970 or gtx 660. I have 300 dollars right now and I have, in my newegg shopping cart, a 6970 with a 1000W psu for 280 bucks (most likely getting the 6970). Not the point, but currently, my 8800 ultra is idling at 72 degrees celcius which is (I think) normal. Will a 6970 run hotter than this? My case isn't very well ventilated, I don't think, and I was just making sure I'd be ok.

EDIT: I bought the 6970 with the 1000W psu but I was thinking of returning this PSU that I just got for another one thats the same price but 80+ gold and 750W. Would it be worth returning the first to exchange for the second...?

Solution
What do you need the 1000W PSU for? Surely you should get a lower powered one and spend the extra money on better graphics. You could run SLI Titans on a 1000W PSU :p

the 650ti boost is best for money but the 760 should be best for 250$ if u want nvidia ., still think the 7850 is a BA card for the money i just love my evga to switch. yes im a fan boy;)

I'm taking a leap and trying a AMD graphics card :) at least until I can get my GTX 770
