Solution
You should not have anything to add for the IP, just the wifi password. If they have static IP setup, it's for security and you need to get that info from them to connect. There is a reason they keep unauthorized computers out, no stealing company info and also less risk of viruses going onto the corporate network. You can get in pretty big trouble.

It will all depend on your company / office network configuration. Talk to your system / network administrators to get them to help you get on the network. If they won't help you, chances are you are risking your job, and likely violating about a dozen laws by connecting in an unauthorized manner anyway...

your first question is the correct one. i want to take my personal laptop to work and access the shared files that are on their network. i have their wifi password and i have the application advanced ip scanner but im not quite sure how to use it :p (as in, what range of ip to enter)
and i want to do this privately, as in i dont want to speak to their IT incharge and ask him to allow me and all that. is there any way i can do it by myself using only my laptop and nothing else.. kind of like hacking i realize but thats what it is.
