I have 1 drive partitioned into c: and d: A folder has disapperaed from my d: drive. The folder is d:\documents and settings\John\userdat and many subfolders.I have checked the recycle bin. I have checked the the tools/options/view hidden folders option and it is on. If I go to start/documents and open one of the documents it opens and if I then say save as it points to the correct path and saves it but the folder is still not visible.

maybe it somehow got SuperHidden,try this open regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and set the value of SuperHidden to 1, reboot ur PC and check what happens
