When playing any persistent online game (SWTOR, Marvel Heroes, etc...), I will get frequent crashes to desktop (as in every 5-60 minutes, usually 15-30). At first I thought it was my wireless USB option (wired connection not an option) but I recently switched to an internal wireless card and the issue persists.

I have no issues with games like the Witcher 2 and CPU stress tests and running GPU-z while testing online games show that its likely not an overheating issue (aka SWTOR crashes and my 7850 is at 70C). Someone brought to my attention that I hadn't really played many online games since I had replaced my old Linksys with a new Dlink wireless router. I've had no issues with general internet usage but it was suggested that something (bad settings, old firmware) might be causing this issue.

Could the wireless actually cause a problem like this and what settings might actually be doing it? Networking is my Achilles' heel so I always just wizard/auto my setup and leave it at that. Thanks for any input.

hmm never heard of internet crashing the game. If its cutting out it will just most likely cause you to stop mid game and get kicked. What is your ping to the servers during the game?

have your tried using amds uninstall tool and reinstalling your drivers? could you check your event viewer and see what errors you are getting

So went ahead and uninstalled/reinstalled using AMD's utility. What is the event viewer? Is it a separate utility or something built in to windows?

its built into windows it will show you any warnings and errors in different categories as well as the time and more detailed info with error codes. i would check the custom view/ admin events for around the time of the crashes if nothing seems to pertain go to windows/ applications events

the easiest way to access it is just start and type event viewer or right click my computer and hit manage

So I did a few test runs on SWTOR (crashes within 10 minutes). On event viewer its listed as an error, event ID 1000, task catagory (100) etc... which data should I be looking out for? ALl my online games are listed under this area it seems.
