When I try to change column width manually in Windows explorer - it show the double arrow when i place the curser over the column bar, but will not move left or right. I suspect a registry key has been changed by a program which was installed can anyone help to rectify this?

CCleaner doesn't "delete all your Registry errors" and neither does it "remove essential items". It skims lightly over the Registry removing only those entries which no longer have any validity. It cannot fix this error - try System restore to take you back before the installation of that programme then reinstall it again.
