Greetings all, thanks for taking the time to read this. I recently started using my new computer, which is only partially build and uses some parts from my old rig. Yesterday i got another key component, my Gigabyte hd 7870 oc 2 gd. I had previously been using the old rig's GPU, a Nvidia 9500 gt, and it had been working properly. i removed my old card and put in the 7870, plugged in the 2 6-pin power supply connectors for the new card, and started it up. everything lit up, the fans on teh GPU spun up, but nothing. No picture, no beeps, and when i touched the power button again, it shut off immediatly, instead of needing to be held down for 5 seconds like it normally would, which suggests to me that the system never got to even loading the BIOS. (this is just my intuition, i really have no idea) When I unplug the auxillary power cords from the card i can power it up and have the onboard display run my monitor, but as soon as I plug the GPU back in, nothing.

i have done a lot of looking around and seen a lot of different ideas and some solutions that worked for other people but not for me. One suggested I use the HDMI instead of the DVI-I, (didn't work), one suggested I switch the BIOS to force it to use Discrete graphics instead of intergratd, but dispite being on the same motherboard, I couldn't find this option (this worked for the user, so this is super frustrating). Someone suggested updating the BIOS, but that solution seemed not to work for the user in question.

Now I bought the card used, (from a resale buisness off of amazon, not just some dude) so there is a chance that the card is just broken, but before I return it there is a few things i wanna try, but I need some advice first.

First off, someone suggested that my motherboard may not be supplying enough voltage to my card through the PCI slot. They suggested turning up the voltage to this slot. Now, in my BIOS the only thing I can find that may do this is a command called GFX voltage Loadline. It has a number of setting, auto, normal low, high, turbo, and extreme. It is set to auto atm. Should i try turning this up to high or turbo? remember, with the card in and running the machine isn't even properly booting up, so the auto setting may not be getting the chance to adjust to a higher setting.

Please, any help or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. This has me very stressed out.

My specs are as follows.

MB = GA-Z77X-D3H

Processor - Intel Core i7-3770K CPUID 306A9H

PSU - Master Cooler 600w

GPU in question - GV-r787O-2GD

Bios version f5 Bios ID (?) 8A01AG0F

Memory - 8gb (4x2) Corsair Vengance

Thank you very much for reading this long question, but I wanted to be as complete as possible and let you all know where I was in this process.

So I managed to get in contact with Gigabyte's technical support, (626-854-9338) and they fixed my problem easily.

Go into your BIOS. Under BIOS features, set your PCI ROM Priority to Legacy ROM. Also, under Prehiprials, set Init Display First to PEG.

Fixed.
