Windows 8, 64bit
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3
AMD FX-6350
Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 Ghz Edition 2GB
XFX Pro 550W Bronze Plus

Problem:

The build was running for a couple of days and successfully completed a 3D mark run through. After installing the new official drivers (AMD Catalyst 13.4) for the GPU, the system shut off ingame after an hour or so of gaming.

Right after that, the system was unable to boot up with none of the fans spinning (GPU, PSU, CPU, case). Removing the GPU resulted in spinning of PSU, CPU and case fans - most likely a correct boot up.

What could it be? Currently, we are suspecting a faulty GPU and consider invoking warranty for it. If you agree or have some kind of input we would appreciate the help.

Solution

Im with him.

Either way you should have onboard graphics, smack the card out of the system and connect monitor with motherboard and you will know.
