best brand for gtx 760

Solution
They did indeed eff it up.

The ACX cooler is a pile of crap on the 760 - techpowerup's data clearly shows that the MSI Twin Frozr version is the best - it runs the quietest by far and is second only to the ASUS in terms of cooling (the ASUS has a slightly lower load temp), but I think that the extremely quiet operation of the MSI more than makes up for that.

The MSI version overclocked the best in their tests as well, although the EVGA version wasn't far behind, to be fair.

However, the EVGA is deafeningly loud, and idle/load temps are pretty high.

Noise:
MSI = 25dbA idle / 27dbA load
ASUS = 25dbA idle / 33dbA load
Gigabyte = 27dbA idle / 34dbA load
EVGA = 26dbA idle / 38 dbA load

Temps:
MSI = 29C idle / 69C load / 70C overclocked...

The 760 has many different brands, but I prefer these two, the Gigabyte for its really good cooling, the Windforce 3x fans, it is well because it will take advantage of the GPU boost 2.0, which basically overclocks the gpu based on temperature, it will keep it cool, and make sure it has almost 670 performance. Also the Evga 760, it has a fairly good cooler, the acx cooling, but it is a little higher clock speed. Pick either, but asus has good ones too.

always EVGA. :)

jk, a little, but seriously- unless you're purchasing based on a round-up comparison of different brands, EVGA is the safest choice. May not always be the highest clocked- but they make quality products.

Now I'm curious- did EVGA eff something up with the 760? I figured since it released after the 770 it would be the same package that they delivered with the 770 (have one, exceptional). How is their take on the 760 bad (source?), so I can stop recommending it if it is indeed inferior.

Gigabyte = 36C idle / 68C load / 70C overclocked load
EVGA = 33C idle / 72C load / 76C overclocked load

As you can see, the MSI version wins pretty much everywhere.

FYI, another article that essentially supports your facts: http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/4608/9/geforce-gtx-760-round-up-asus-vs-msi-vs-evga-vs-inno-3d-conclusion

Be careful though- both sources point to the EVGA card being a better performer than either the Msi, Asus, or Gigabyte. Not a ton- but it's there. More performance often = more temp = higher fan speeds = more noise. Not necessarily a worse card in this case- just tradeoffs involved.

I'd still go with the MSI.

At the end of the day, they're all pretty much the same, so it doesn't really matter, but a quiet yet effective cooling system is always a nice bonus.

I think the Twin Frozr looks cool too - the EVGA one looks a bit dull (imo).

Either way, overclocking on the MSI is supposedly superior because MSI did a lot of tweaking with the card's BIOS. How true this is, I have no idea, but it's what I've heard :p

OP, you'll be happy with any card, I reckon.

Wow, a lot of answers. From my perspective the acx coolers are either really good or really bad. the twin frozr is a classic . the windforce seems awesome to. The msi seems to have the best reviews ( i know it sound like im just pro msi but thats not true ) IMO, MSI. Asus or GIGABYTE. i like the gigabyte or msi. which one?
