DHCP / connection issues

I just picked up a new modem, reset all my router settings to the default and now only a single device is able to connect at a time.

I have a WRT54G2 router, DHCP is set up and the devices I'm trying to connect with have had their known networks wiped (as well as the keychain entries) and have had had the DCHP lease renewed several times. One laptop connects fine (MBP) while another MBP can connect to the router but won't connect to the internet (this happens when over wifi as well as with a hard connection).

I've tried rebooting everything and bringing them online one at a time over and over to no avail. DNS options are set on each of the laptops (openDNS IPs). I've noticed the non-connecting laptop seems to want to take the IP of the connected one (keeps attempting to default to the same IP). Every now and again I get the complaint from the non-connected one stating its IP is in use by another device.

I'm at a total loss, I've seen similar threads and help sections addressing this but none of these seem to work for my particular case. Any recommendations? I appreciate any responses!

Solution
Don't know much about networking but can't you just setup static addresses for the devices instead of using DHCP? Its a pain sure but its not hard and will get rid of your issues.
