Okay, so lately I've been trying to get some answers on what GPU would be good for my custom build, seeing as how I want it to have a multiple monitor setup with Eyefinity. Originally I went with the GTX 770, but was told that you would need 2 cards for a simple 3 monitor setup. I was told that if I wanted a 3 monitor setup, I might as well go with the 7970 by AMD, being that I would only need a single card to use a 3 monitor setup. I did some searching and found a different card that in itself supports up to 8 monitors with a single card and for me, more is better, not to mention I don't have much of a budget to worry about. It is the M9188 by Matrox.

My first question is, would this GPU work with this motherboard?

My second question is, even if it works with the motherboard, is it a GPU that is worth getting?

My next question is, what monitor(s) should I get to go with it?

If you would like to recommend a better motherboard, should that one not be worth it, or if you think there are better choices in GPU's, please let me know. Thank you.

Solution
no this is not my own setup, i only use a single monitor and a 7870.

with an eyefinity 6 edition card all 5 monitors run from one card.

the first card you linked is not a 7970 althought it is an eyefinity 6 model it will not work in crossfire with a 7970.

this card will work fine as the primary card for the monitors to be connected too.

if money is not a problem get 2 of that card otherwise get one of these to go with it instead.

Yes, I do plan to use it for gaming, and was not aware of that. I am a bit new at building computers, so which GPU would you recommend? Like I posted, budget isn't anything to worry about, but I did want something that I could have around 8 or so monitors that would work with that motherboard or any motherboard that might be better than that one.

for gaming i wouldn't recommend having 8 monitors or even a 6 monitor setup as you will have bevel cutting off and in your view badly this is why most people just use 1x3 monitor setups. a 1x5 monitor setup would be good with 5 monitors tilted on their side and setup horizontally.

like this http://www.wsgf.org/f/u/E6-Review-Prod-5x1c.jpg

you would want an eyefinity 6 edition and 2 normal 7970's in crossfire for pumping out good performance in a 1x5 setup

i would look for monitors with as small a bevel on them as possible.

Okay, so if you dont mind me asking, is this a picture of your current setup, because I wanted to confirm that the Eyefinity 6 Edition GPU was being used for the 3 screens in the middle, while the other two 7970's for the two remaining screens individually? Also, are these two GPU selections fine?

Thank you for your help thus far.
