Solution

Yes, the memory is compatible. When you say that the new RAM didn't show up - is it in the BIOS or in windows properties? If the memory was defective then it would never have booted in the first place.

Try this:
This problem may occur because the Maximum memory option is selected incorrectly. To fix this, follow these steps:
Click Start, type msconfig in the Search programs and files box, and then click msconfig in the Programs list.
In the System Configuration window, click Advanced options on the Boot tab.
Click to clear the Maximum memory check box, and then click OK.
Restart the computer.

Or do a BIOS update:...

you need a 64-bit version of Windows to be able to recognize more than 4gbs of ram. also your game-debate.com link doesn't give any info...just a link to sign up for game-debate. post your specs and OS for more help

dont see your computer specs on your link.is your system running a 32 or 64 bit operating system.a 32bit will not recognize any more than 4g of ram.go into control panel, system and it will give you this information. never mind,i see a whole load of responses in the last minute.

There are a few things you need to check.
1. That all of the ram speed matches and the timing values of the memory.
2. The voltage of all the memory sticks are the same.
3. The maximum size of memory stick each dimm slot will take.

To check if the memory is being read in the memory slot go into the bios to see if it reports 8gb.
If it does then you are likely using a 32bit version of windows os, and it can only utilize 3.25Gb of total memory. You will have to install a 64 bit version of windows to use all 8gb of memory.

You will also need to check how the board likes your memory to be placed in the memory slots and what mode it should be running at.

For example if you had two 2gb sticks, then you put a single 4gb stick in the system it would foul things up because it was running in dual channel mode.

Your best off getting the brand name of the board you are using and it`s model number and consulting the manual that came with the board.
Or going to the maker of the boards website where you can download a pdf version to view.

Or do a BIOS update:
http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3487#bios (Click on the link to download the latest version "F12E")
Follow the instructions mentioned in the manual to install the BIOS.

Enable the memory remapping feature:
Check the BIOS settings to see whether the memory remapping feature is enabled. Memory remapping gives Windows access to more memory. You can enable the memory remapping feature in the BIOS by booting to the system setup. See the User's Guide for your computer for instructions on how to boot to system setup on your computer. The name for the memory remapping feature may be different for different hardware vendors. This can be listed as memory remapping, memory extension, or something similar. Be aware that your computer may not support the memory remapping feature.

Also make sure you have installed the memory in the right way (Correct population method).
