Hello,

I've only recently upgraded from gtx 460 sli to a gigabyte 4gb gtx 770 (windforce). Now i've completely removed the old drivers (then restarted) and then installed the latest drivers (320.49). I was very happy at first because everything was smooth and just how it was supposed to be.

But then on my next restart some games we're "lagging/stuttering" a bit like with my old setup (some ugly frame drops down to 15-25 fps). So first I've removed all overclockings which still didnt change a thing, I also read that the relatively new geforce experience might cause problems so I've also removed it, still without changing anything.

The only (temporary) solution was to completely remove the driver again and reinstall, then it would work for one session only! For now I had a little improvement when downgrading to the 320.18 driver since I simply have to reinstall the drivers anew every session without removing them completely and restarting in between.

However this is very annoying and I hope you could give me some advice as to how to fix this issue. Currently I'm guessing the only thing that might help is to completely reinstall win7?

Any help appreciated!

ps.: I've been mainly trying it on skyrim, gta iv and planetside 2 @ 1920x1080. This card shouldnt have any problems at all with those games at that resolution. I'm upgrading to 2560x1600 soon and it would be great if it would run smooth :3.

system specs:
i7 3770k
16gb vengeance
gtx 770
850w corsair tx
samsung 830 ssd
3tb wd red

currently without oc (although there's no change whether oc is applied or not)

Solution
download and install driver fusion.

uninstall current driver and do not restart when prompted.
run driver fusion and clean nvidia drivers.

install latest drivers and see how it goes.

Its most likely GPU Boost 2.0...
If your card is getting too little fresh air, and heating up, then GPU Boost will slow down your game by decreasing clocks to decrease heat output. It's normal, but I would advise using MSI Afterburner to ramp up your fans manually before gaming.

@ meowmix44 - personally i dont think it's running hot (havent seen it above 60-64°C at 100% load in furmark etc) also I have the cooler master storm stryker full tower case which is very cool in general and got good air circulation. Also performance doesn't decrease if I just manage to get it running properly. It either starts working or not and it will continue working/not working during the whole windows session until i restart for whatever reason.

@ mauller07 - thanks I'll try that and see what happens.

Sadly this didn't work. I actually just noticed that there's driver version 320.08 on the CD that came with the card, but trying those didn't help in any way either.

Edit: I found the culprit! It was some remaining software from my old graphics card (asus) which is called "Asus GamerOSD". I have no idea what it even was for, however everything's working now that I've deleted it.

Thanks for the help and quick answers guys!
