Setup:
4670k Haswell @ 4.6GHz
Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H
16GB DDR3 2400
2x Intel 520 60GB SSDs in a 16k RAID0 Stipe (Write-cache buffer flushing Disabled, Cache Mode Write back)

I have the newest drivers for everything (newest firmware for the Intel SSDs). Newest RAID and RST Drivers.

This is after about a week on a fresh install of Windows 8:

This is my other PC (AMD FX8150, Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7, OCZ Vertex 3 120GB, single drive)

Why are the 4k Read/Writes on my slower single Vertex 3 much faster than my Intel 520SSDs in RAID0? Same goes for the 4k QD32 Read speed? Any ideas?

Solution

All I can do at the moment is provide my own data point (Z68 chipset, 2x Vertex 3 120GB)

Honestly, your speeds look about right, for whatever reasons, the increased latency from going through the RAID controller seems to make the 4K read/writes slower.
