I am having a problem installing/reinstalling Java update(s). The error message is "Error 1714 - The older Version of
Java 7 update 25 cannot be removed."
All reference to Java or Sun has been remove from the registry. The only possibility is a CLSID. I've been on
the net looking for Java CLSID to no avail. Have removed all reference to Java on the Hard Drive, and
all reference in Windows XP directories.
Downloaded the Full version of Java, saved it to disk. Run the program and still it comes up, cannot remove Java 7u25.
According to a third party uninstall program, Java is not on this computer. Using XP's Control Panel, checking the
MS Add/Remove Utility, there is no reference to Java indicated..
I am at my wits end. Has anyone any ideas or suggestions.. Perhaps if I knew what CLSID code for Java to search
for in the registry for such, might reveal 7u25 is still installed. Hopefully, this is the problem.
Please none of these simple type questions, such as when, where and what for! My expertise in computer technology
goes far deeper than this type of rhetoric. But this phenomena has put yours truly to the ultimate test!
