Hey guys i have a CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE i like this psu how ever i think it maybe going bad or i may have a faulty psu. i noticed my pc will freeze reboot at random. i could use it for 6 hours no reboots i could use it 10 mins and reboot its really random.

Gtx560 SE GPU
AMD fx4100 CPU
LCD fan controller
4 led 120mm fans cooler master
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2 AM3+ AMD 760G Micro
1 hard drive 1 dvd/cd combo drive

Now i don't have a meter and i know you can't trust software.

My bio's show its running 11.950 or some were around that.

CPU hardware shows 7.920 when i run prime95 dropped down to 7.872

When i check my gigabyte software the tuner shows 12.140 12.060

Now my question is i know it has to be my Power supply i have tested my ram hard drive ect. how ever could this be just a bad psu i got? i want to buy another the same brand same model but i'm hoping its just a bad psu i got and i can get the same one and have it fixed?

Or is this not enough to power my system? its not a power hungry build i have but the random reboots and seein the voltage on the software scares me....

So my question is can a PSU like this come with a bad rail or if i buy the same brand same model will i have the same results?

I think that budget PSU is a little underpowerd to run your system efficiently.

CX is Corsair's "builder" aka "budget" line of PSUs. As a minimum I recommend the TX series, if ya want good overclocks, ya buy the HX series.

Download and run OCCT's GPU and CPU tests for 60 minutes. The utility will monitor voltages throughout the test

ATX specs allows 5%
I'm concerned at more than 3%
If overclocking, I want 1%

Its not my motherboard i know that for a fact. My voltage readings a way off random reboots go along with psu issues normally. everything works fine my pc runs fine til i get reboots witch are random.

As for over clocking what does that have to do with anything? i'm not over clocking anything. nor do i plan on it. And yes its a budget build.and seeing CORSAIR is a good trusted brand for psu i don't see how their budget psu 500 watts would be okay?

My point is i have tested everything and am narrowing it down to my power supply. My question is "if i buy the Same EXACT power supply will it give me the same issues did i just get unlucky and get one that wasn't good or what. can the v rails be bad on 1 psu and be better on another? of the same brand same model ect.

How long has the problem occured?

Personally, I don't think it is enough to power your system. I would get a 600W at least. The one blackbird posted is great. Especially for the same price as a CX600 which is a budget PSU.
