Does the manufacture matter when buying a graphics card? I was looking to buy the GeForce GTX 660 but does it matter if I go with an asus made 660 or an EVGA made 660?

Solution
The 660 is pretty obsolete right now, the 760 is about $30 more and way, way faster, go with that. As for manufacturer, it does matter but only as far as noise is concerned, if you can deal with a bit of a louder cooler then don't bother, if you want something quiet then avoid any of the reference cards, identified as having a boxed look to them with a recessed 'blower' fan, stuff like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162139

Generally for Nvidia people like EVGA, Asus and Gigabyte.
manufacturer choice really will affect 3 things

1. Fan/heatsink quality ratio
2. Warranty legnth
3. How warranty works

In the U.S I would think EVGA has outstanding warranty and warranty legnth. Ive only heard of lengthy process for asus related RMA's

Nvidia/AMD Radeon make the GPU, and the rest of the board is made by said manufacturer.

To be honest probably not as much difference as you think. But EVGA and Asus are both good, i just tend to avoid ones i dont see so much like MSI.
Had 2 cards that broke, both were radeons and both were the chipset (cant remember the manufacturers. Went with Nvidia after that, and stuck with Asus made ones, and i've never had a problem :D

To piggyback on bullet 1. .. based on the cooling solution look at the manufacturer set core clocks on the more mature chipsets.

Thanks but I don't have the money for the 760 right now. I'm just gonna go with the 660 now then upgrade down the road when my budget increases
And thanks everyone for clearing up my question :)

Your motherboard is a little exessive given your processor cant be overclocked, a motherboard has 0 impact on system performance provided it has the features you want.

There are a tonne of $60 H87 motherboards, check around and see if theres one that supports the same features you want out of the Asrock one you had before.
