Hi, i'v been looking around for a while and thought I'd get some builds from other people and compare it to what i've came up with. A big one being whether to go AMD and get a better GPU or go with intel and get an lesser GPU. Any help is much appreciated =) *used for gaming and vfx (3d modeling, editing, etc.)*

ok, I see some AMD-favoured names there, and since nVidia's kepler GPUs aren't made for great computing performance, a HD7970ghz edition from AMD would be your best bet for both gaming and 3d editing. But if After Effects ray tracing stuffs are what you're going to work with mainly, you might want to consider a GTX770 instead since nVidia GPUs are better in this field. As for CPU, since you don't plan to OC, a Xeon E3 1230v3 sits at the sweat spot here, since it's identical to an i7 4770 in editing, but much cheaper than that i7 due to the lack of an integrated GPU ( doesn't matter since you will use a discrete GPU instead ). Also put in the part list a 128gb HDD for OS and essential programs. The PSU I picked is a superb one that...

The PSU I picked is a superb one that is on discount, and the case is large enough for all the cable managements with another card added in the future ( I picked a motherboard that supports proper Crossfire/SLI in case you want to get another card ). Total price sits around 1350$:

thanks a lot =) i didn't know about the cpu or psu, which saved me a lot of money. I might switch out a 770 instead of 7970, but i think this is the build im going with, thank you. ~

Yea, you should take advices from realchaos, too :) I prefer the NZXT Tempest 410 for that extra 10$, thou. As for VGA, if you want to switch to a GTX770, consider this one : http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/add/msi-video-card-n770tf2gd5oc/ Review: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_770_TF_Gaming/

I guess Madn3ss795's build is great , would however swap up the GPU and Case , here's what I would get if I were looking for a Intel CPU ( better in gaming and great in editing as well )

The Xeon is good if your not planning to OC. Also the GTX 580 comes with a watercooler form PNY , which can also cool the CPU. So I went for LGA 1155 Xeon as i7's were not in budget and i5's were weaker in editing.

Here's a AMD build if you want to try AMD for your PC -

Same stuff except different CPU and motherboard. The FX8350 actually needs the cooler :p
