My CPU burned out a few months ago and I've been using my laptop. I’d like to start getting new parts for gaming (Rome Total War 2, maybe Skyrim and whatever my son plays) and a general purpose PC. Most of the components below are nearing four years old except the video card, the monitor, the 1 TB drive, and the SSD. My initial budget would be $400-500 and I’m inclined to go for an Intel Haswell system this time. I’m not sure if I need to replace the power supply and was wondering if the case needs better cooling because this CPU overheated and died, and I think my previous HIS 4850 video card might have died of heat stroke. I didn’t overclock the previous system though I did fiddle with it from time to time and I probably wouldn't overclock this time. I don’t want to change the video card at this time, but I might later in the year. I would order from Newegg or Amazon.

Total so far $345
