This is bugging me. I have a internal powered USB hub that connects to the USB connectors on the motherboard and is powered by a 4-pin molex (so it powers external hard drives as well).
The thing is, while everything is off (except the PSU, of course), connecting the 9 pin USB connector on the motherboard somehow triggers my motherboard and the fans start turning at a low speed. CPU, case, and even the GPU fan!
This is no sleep issue or windows issue. I searched the forum and tried the [unplug PSU - take out CMOS battery - hold power button for 15 seconds trick]. Didn't work. This seems to be a low-level, hardware level MOBO system issue. PSU on, USB hub connected, boom. Fans turn. My case USB connectors don't cause the same problem.
Motherboard: Gigabyte 965p-ds3.
What the USB device looks like:

Does anyone have any idea? Thanks.
