I'm running a
Gigabytw G970-D3
AMD Phenom 2
with 16 GB DDR3 Patriot Viper Ram (1600)
loading on both a 1TB HDD or my Samsung 840 series 120gb SSD is not working. It always boots me to a step in which there is an error "Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation." This error has came up several times. probably over 100 times as that is the amount of attempts i had on trying install windows 7 64bit. This problem occurs for all Windows 7 32 64, Windows Vista 64 Windows 8 64. Really need help!

My system has just been sitting here... Planning to buy a new Asus motherboard if i cannot get this fixed anytime soon.

I take it you intend to put the windows installation on your SSD.

You will need to go into the bios and check what mode you have the Sata ports set to. If you intend to use the SSD as the boot drive and the HD as extra storage.

In the bios of the board.
Make sure Raid is turned off, Make sure that all the sata ports you have plugged the drives into are enabled. Set your mode to.
If you have the controller interface of the board set to Sata try changing it to Ahci mode instead. It may be the fact you need to set the controller to Ahci mode and your problem will be resolved.

yes i intend to install on SSD. also what mode should i be using? ACHI or IDE?

I tried all the methods, even with ONLY the SSD plugged in. Also, this is all running with default settings, is there anything i should be OCing in the bios for my memory to run smoothly?

the disk i am using is burned on 4X or lower.

I have gotten all the way, right to the very last step before it reboots the computer. but then this error comes up and when i manually reboot it after pressing okay. it attempts to load the OS but it says it is missing parts. I enter the boot CD again and try to repair windows or any means of it and it fails to do so. the CD works fine, i was able to install a fresh copy on my other system the other day. I had this done to make sure the CD is not faulty. and like i said this is happening to all my OS Disks. Vista, 7 and 8

I have done that. I had made sure that it boots from SSD and SSD only. No other HDD is connected other than the SSD itself. and then a boot error comes up, saying that my windows needs repair. but even after attempting to repair it with the installation disk it claims that repairs have been made or no repairs have been made. I do not remember. but long story short, it still does not work! does anyone else think it has something to do with the motherboard? Because there is another option i have done to prove that there is something faulty..

I took my SSD out of this system and hooked it up to my other system that is working fine, i use the SAME installation disk to install OS onto the SSD, and it works FINE. so I try to bring the SSD back to my original system, tried to boot it up in SAFEMODE. same error occurs with the boot menu. "says that it needs repairs" I originally had Corsair DDR3 memory.. I first thought it was the memory issue until I changed it to the current viper memory. Then I thought it may by the disk reader. but even with a fresh copy of windows within the SSD as i mentioned above, using another system to install it. once it is plugged back into THIS system, it crashes.

I really just need to know if it is the Motherboard. this is a new board too.

I have tried all 3 modes. even the Native IDE mode, I think that is what it's called. Same issue... Like I said, does this have anything to do with my memory timing? Right now it is all running on default. Everything is on Default.

correct. but after i put it in my original system and it does not boot, i have not tried putting it back into my second system... but after installing it on my second system it boots fine. i restarted the computer 2-3 times to make sure that it boots fine. but when i bring it to my original system. it fails.

Memory replaced.
Installed windows onto the SSD from a different system- worked fine.
That other HDD, can/did you install windows on that, with this system and see if it works then? - Oh i think you have..

Ok basic steps:-

Make sure you SSD is in sata_0, and it is set to achi mode.

If those are checked, and probably are, then try updating you BIOS, via a USB stick. I think thats the next option.

To be fair everything should run on default, with the exception of newer tech.

I have done all this on default. SSD is on SATA port 0. and i did do a clean install using ACHI mode. Still no success. and yes I have tried installing the OS onto my other HHD. and when doing so. I made it only the HHD was plugged in, no other devices such as SSD. other than my Disk reader. SAME ISSUE! :fou:

Maybe your MOBO is bad?
Do update everything you can though. I mean EVERYTHING possible. You could even try a different SATA cable.
If you update everything, AHCI, minimal hardware, save options, reboot, still get the same errors.

After all that it still won't work. I would say MOBO SATA controller is bad somehow.
If you literally have exhausted every option, wherever you buy your new board from, ask if they can diagnose the board if you buy a new one.

Try downloading a BIOS update onto a USB stick and then go through your BIOS too install it, if you can.

Oh and try swapping out your Sata cables, might be worth a try!

If those fail I'd say defo motherboard fault then!

OH yes sorry, I forgot to mention this earlier, BIOS is updated. Cable was all changed. like i said I tried everything already LOL. do you think it would be wise to purchase the same board and check of it works with the same model but a different board? if so I can always return my corrupt board. LOOL!

Could be two issues. One could be the mb not setting the ram speed or timing up right and during the unpacking of windows files is damaging them. Try setting the ram speed to 1333. Try bumping the ram voltage up.
The other issue is some times with some mb you have to make a driver install disk and use f6 custom install. If you look under your mb driver web page they have few f6 disks for the Sata drivers.

Interesting idea!

I would have said that, except windows 7 detects the HDD's.

Used to have todo it for Windows XP and an old Mobo, the drives were never detected, until drivers for them were loaded first.

As for another Mobo, try looking at one reviewed by Toms Hardware, easier to find one thats reliable and will work :D

someone mentioned earlier about bringing in my MB in for a diagnostic test? do you think that would cost some money? Of course It depends on who i am bringing it to and on what conditions. But I would like to know the process of it and an approximate amount.
