my machine just decided to freeze and make a funny noise from its speakers.i rebooted and it booted but first showed green lines when it reached the black screen. after booting it then made the noise and jamed weni tried to play music and i had to switch it off the hard way by a long press of power. now, when i switch it on it boots, you can hear all sounds of it completely booting till the "auto run eater goat sound but nothing shows on the screen. could it b a problem with the screen cable?

This sounds as if it might be a Graphics Card or PSU problem. Did you upgrade or replace any of these components recently? Also, you probably shouldn't have posted this under Components. 
Perhaps Systems would have been a better choice?
