Hey,

I am looking to upgrade my current desktop. The use i need it for is mainly SC2, a couple VMs, GNS and the occasional movies, streaming etc

My current setup is 4-5 years old. Specifically :

AMD Athlon II x4 635
3GB DDR2
nVidia GT220 1GB

I am planning on upgrading everything in a few months period but i want to do it gradually since all at once is kinda hard with vacation expenses and whatnot.

My final build will be an AMD FX-8320 (probably OCed), HD 7770, 8GB RAM 1600MHz and an SSD.

I purchased a new 23" IPS monitor last week and i am using 1080p even in SC2, on low settings ofc, so my PC is struggling alot.

My choices are either new CPU/Mobo/RAM or GPU first.

Which of the two would yield the best value? Keep in mind i will upgrade both with like 2 months difference.

Thanks in advance!

Fix your platform first and then buy a decent graphics card. CPU/mobo prices are unlikely to drop that much, but a given amount of money will buy a better graphics card in a few months than it will now. SC2 is heavily reliant on CPU and your's isn't really up to it. GPU is also crucial though - you're right to upgrade everything.
