Hey, I will try and keep this short. Basically I had the motherboard replaced on my Acer 4820T (it has an i3 350m proccesser with integrated graphics) due to water damage. Since then I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 and it wont accept the intel hd graphics drivers. I get the message that the driver has stopped responding but have recovered, then the screen freezes with bright pixels splattered on the screen, it boots up fine but does this on the desktop. If anybody has any suggestions I would be thankful, cheers guys/gals.

Sounds like the motherboard or cpu has issues. Maybe heat, if not a physical issue. Was a new motherboard used? Make sure the heatsinks are on properly and the fans are working. Won't hurt to play around with the RAM as well, maybe try one stick at a time.

Thanks for the help! I presume a new motherboard was installed at the shop. I have to use the standard VGA graphics adapter to be able to use the Laptop, because when I update the drivers this is when the problems occur. I will have a play around with ram like you said. Thanks

The driver issue, if this was a regular PC with a add-on video card, what you see points to a dead video card. Many times a faulty card will run OK on the generic Windows drivers, but soon as the real drivers or anything like a game or movie is played, it would crash. So you could be looking at a CPU issue, although since a whole lot of components are on the CPU die, it would be very odd that only the video part got damaged and the rest of the CPU is OK. Which is why I'm leaning towards something like a motherboard or maybe RAM issue. If you have any way of swapping the CPU, do that for sure, it would rule it out. If a new CPU does the same thing, you know it's not the CPU.
