I'm building a pc for me and these 2 graphics cards are the same price.
I want the quietest one and I've heard that's the direct cu ii but the windforce has better cooling?
The asus is supposed to oc better because of good capacitors etc.

So it comes down to AMD vs Nvidia. I'm not experienced with either this is my first pc build.
Thanks

nVidia is generally the better choice, they keep the drivers updated far batter for gaming, et al, runs cooler and potential for OC is there

The HD 7970 will be an almost silent (albeit huge) graphics card. However, the GTX 770 performs at about the same level, and is only slightly louder. So it's really up to you. Either card should make you very happy; however, can your PSU and case handle such large and power hungry cards?

The 7970 oc better doesn't it so it will beat the 770. My psu Is about ~800w too much? Too little? Which is cooler? Can you link me to a vid with a gaming fan load on both maybe?

The 7970 has higher power use, and better memory bandwidth, but the 770 for gaming anyway is better with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filters

So to recap.
Hd7970
Pros more memory bus?
Quieter
Better oc'ing
Cons more power (don't mind)
Anymore?
Gtx770
Pros Nvidia only features txaa etc.
Lower power consumption.
Looks nicer (my opinion)
Cons louder
Worse oc'ing.
So since I'm going for silence I think I might go for the 7970. How much louder is the 770?

AMD has pretty awful drivers compared to Nvidia. With AMD you can get some nice triple A titles with your graphics card purchase, but not every shop is selling them. NCIX is still offering it, and tigerdirect. Nvidia has much better drivers, and nice upcoming features such as shadow play. Lets not forget PhysX. PhysX can be run on AMD cards, but it's a much crappier version of PhysX. Keep in mind PhysX is only on a few games, and if it doesn't matter to you then you should go for whatever is priced better. If you OC a 7970 is can beat a 770 with ease. If i were you i'd consider waiting a little because AMD's new 8000 series cards are coming soon, so you can expect good deals on 7000 series cards.
