My computer gets pretty hot and loud in games. For example Darksiders II on max. I think it's the processor stock cooler. I have an amd phenom x945 x4, overclocked to 3,6 ghz. I am considering getting a Scythe Mugen 3 cooler. Any thoughts? It my also be my 7870 XT, but my processor cooler seems the loudest. I have a MS-TECH Raptor case.

the stock coolers for the Phenom II's were very loud when they spun up. This is a normal thing for those coolers and nothing you can do but change them. The Hyper 212 evo is your best option for that machine as it will more than handle the heat that CPU will produce. With a price tag of $30 USD the price per performance you really cant beat it.

Have you removed the CPU fan and cleaned the cooler with compressed air? When they plug up they get loud also because they cant get the air through it as easy.
