Hey guys I want to hear your opinion on this. First off, I'm a college student on a tight budget so when I saw this deal (and also other deals similar to this) on ebay, I took it into consideration.

I know ebay can be a gamble and nothing is guaranteed to work. However, this seller has a perfect 100% seller rating and has sold multiple PC components so I'm really thinking about taking the plunge (obviously its an auction so the price is probably going to go up in the next couple of days but its an offer that's hard to refuse.) Thoughts?

Solution
I also have 2500K and its quite fast. It is around 20% weaker than Haswell but still that is a lot.

for $150 that combo is a steal as it would otherwise cost you around 3x of that price.

well he guarantees it to not be doa, so worst case scenario you return it and get your money back. ebay has a lot of buyer protection rules so you will more than likely win if you have to open a case. but thats not too likely to be necessary.

as far as the cpu and mobo go, the 2500k is a few generations old. that being said, i have one in my desktop and i dont feel like im missing out on anything compared to ivy/haswell. if you get it for a reasonable price i think itll be worth it.

haha as much as i agree about the stock cooler, it does the job if youre not overclocking, and if youre on a budget.

yea i dont mind not getting ivy/haswell anytime soon since this cpu can still put in a lot of work especially when overclocked.

I can go up to $210 for it but i agree the ram is not that attractive but its 8 gb. and i was planning on getting a 212+ or evo anyway
