Hello,
I have been offered a Sony SRS-BTV5 bluetooth speaker. I'm not too keen on bluetooth as i've read that it may not be very safe for the health due to the micro-waves but I like to use it simply plugged with a jack cable.
The problem is that it won't work in cable mode even though the switch in placed on "on" unless I activate the bluetooth pairing mode: in that case it keeps looking for a device to pair with while i'm just using it in cable mode (which is quite annoying by the way as it sometimes causes interferences when the sound played is low).
Does anyone know how bad the microwaves are when the device is looking for a device to pair with? Is it only "listening" or is it broadcasting?
According to the specs the device is using bluetooh v3.0 (http://www.docs.sony.com/release/SRSBTV5_guide_EN.pdf)

NB: a little documentation if you don't think that bluetooth may cause health issues:
http://www.bioinitiative.org/report/wp-content/uploads/...
"Is greatly concerned at the Bio-Initiative international report(8) concerning electromagnetic fields,
which summarises over 1500 studies on that topic and which points in its conclusions to the health risks posed by emissions from mobile-telephony devices such as mobile telephones, UMTS, Wifi, Wimax and
Bluetooth, and also DECT landline telephones;"

"The Panel recommends avoidance of wireless (Bluetooth-type) headsets in general;"

Thanks

If you are truly concerned about your health, then do not put yourself in an uncomfortable position. You know your own body better than any body else.

But I have never heard of Bluetooth harming anyone.
