Hello, I just built my first system and i cant fix this small problem. My RAM is supposed to run at 1600 but it runs at 667. I would be happy if it ran at 1333 at least I havent over clocked it at all.
SPECS:
CPU: AMD phenom x4 965
GPU: HD7870
PSU: corsair CX750
MoBo: BIOSTAR 880 GZ AM3+ micro ATX
RAM:Dual channel XMS3 4GB x 2 DDR3 1600Mhz
I will give any other specs if needed

Solution

I assume the memory is running in 1333MHz. The real clock speed of the DDR3 (DDR2 and DDR as well) is half the speed mentioned i.e, the real clock speed of 1333MHz is 667MHz. I'm not sure if you found it out using CPU-Z. CPU-Z usually uses shows the real clock speed and not the effective speed. Check in your BIOS. If you need then you can manually set the...

If you need then you can manually set the frequency to 1600MHz (800MHz).

You're :welcome:. Keep us posted on how things work out. Cheers, mate.

To set it up for 1600, try this:

1. Set DRAM Frequency to DDR3-1600
2. Set CPU-NB Frequency to 2400MHz (DDR3-1600 / 2 = 800MHz, then x 3) CPU-NB Frequency should always be 3X DRAM bus frequency
3. Set HT Link Frequency to 2400MHz
4. Set timings to tCL 9 - tRCD 9 - tRP 9 - tRAS 24, or whatever your memory is rated for.
5. Set DRAM Voltage to 1.50V, or whatever your memory is rated for.
6. Most CPUs will need a CPU-NB Voltage boost of +0.10V, so if your default is 1.10V, set it to 1.20V.
