I'm looking at putting the Corsair Hydro H90 in the CM Storm Trooper case. I want to put it at the back of the case where the exhaust fan sits. The case says it's a 140mm fan converted to 120mm, and the cooler is 140mm, will that fit in the spot or do I need to get a smaller cooler?

What that means is that the back fan slot supports either a 140mm fan or a 120mm fan. It should fit.

Okay! So it fits perfectly.
My next question is, does the fan need to blow on the radiator or will there be enough airlfow being sucked through that it will cool? If it needs to blow on the radiator is there any problem with turning the exhaust fan into an intake fan?

You need a fan on the radiator. The H90 already comes with one fan and the case should have a rear exhaust fan.
What you can do is leave the rear exhaust fan there and use it as a pull and use the fan that comes with the H90 as a push.

Will there be enough cool air on the radiator if I do that?
If I changed the direction of the airflow so the rear fans were then intake in a pull push config, would the top fan (200mm) cope as the only exhaust fan? Or is this a bad idea?

That's a bad idea, because that means you're going to move the hot air from the radiator to the inside of the case. The point is to bring it to the outside of the case, which is why its used as an exhaust.

Hi,

I have slightly different question. I just bought the Storm Trooper and was wondering if I should leave the 2x fans on the side (by default mounted on the side), or should I move them to the front of the case?

Also, I will be removing the big fan on the top of the case and will be installing Kraken X60 cooler, should I put the fans on push pull mode?

Regards,

I like mounting the intake fans on the front instead of the side. Use any extra fans for the side.

If you have enough fans, definitely use the push pull for the radiator.

Thank you!

Have you replaced the case fans with better ones and does it really make any difference?

I read a lot of people replace them and if I go that route I narrowed down my choice to:

- Gently Typhoon (possibly 1450RPM as the1850RPM seems too much?)
- Corsair AF120
- Compucase CF-V12H Cougar (for some reason I like this one more that the other too, 1200RPM but good pressure and silent) ?
