I am looking to upgrade this

well you can get a better cpu. the motherboard is an older model but you can still upgrade. an AMD socket am3 cpu should work, since the sempron 145 is a socket am3 cpu. and you can upgrade the ram too, it says on the website that it supports up to 4gb of ram.

here is a good quad core, its an Athlon II x4 640 3.0Ghz. really fast.

but before you get a new cpu, i suggest you get the latest bios for you motherboard. I'm going to guess you have an HP? go to the HP website and get the latest BIOS for your computer if they have any. install new BIOS then you can see if the new CPU works...
