Is my hard drive starting to fail? I have had it for about two years, it is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148433). I have been having problems the last couple of weeks where my screen would go black and I would get BSOD. And I am currently sending in my GPU for an RMA. But my computer does still seem pretty slow. I did a test for the read speeds (see img below)...but my computer seems alot slower than normal. It is better but like last week it would freeze if I was trying to open a Word doc while something else is open and it was very hard to have two diffrent windows, folders etc. open at the same time. And this was after a complete reformat and reinstallation of my OSSo I am thinking about trying to reformat again...and I might just have to buy a whole new hard drive (not that big of deal) anyways, any help or ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Clay

The BSODs could be caused by bad RAM. That is one of the usual suspects. Run memtest for a full pass on each stick by it self in whichever slot the manual says a single stick should be in. The .ISO file will make a bootable disk that you simply put in the optical drive and boot to.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sorry I'm just now getting back to you. I did test all if my RAM with neatest 86, and my mobo requires at least 2 sticks if RAM in at a time, but I did test every combination of sticks and ran the test and every test they passed. And I did let it run so each pair passed 2+ times. Also my screen was going black after the post screen, but I am almost positive that was because of my GPU which I rma'ed and it will be here tomorrow. But my hard drive is still being quite slow, and I really think it is about to fail on me. So I am probably going to get a new one this week. And hopefully that works!

Yeah I would go with one of these.
Then again it could say your HDD is perfectly fine and it could die tomorrow /: they just give you somewhat of an idea if there is a problem good luck!
